Behind Bluemind counselling/About Me

Hi, I'm Milena! The counsellor and psychotherapist behind Bluemind Counselling.

I trained at Strathclyde University and with Cruse Bereavement Care.  I became increasingly aware of the long-lasting impact a bereavement can have on someone. I gained further experience as a Bereavement Support Practitioner with the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, and completed extensive training in infant loss, perinatal and postnatal support and reproductive health.

Prior to becoming a counsellor I have worked in the music & events industry - a depth of experience I bring to my role as counsellor.

I am currently working with Health Assured and CiC as an EAP counsellor. I continue to seek ways of supporting individuals on their paths with mental health and learning to carry what we cannot change.

I look forward to hearing from you.

What is grief counselling and my approach

At the heart of my approach to grief counselling is person-centred therapy, a humanistic approach to psychotherapy developed by psychologist Carl Rogers and colleagues. This is a type of talking therapy in which I help people explore their inner worlds, hear their own hearts, make sense of complex experiences, and recognise their truth and meaning after a loss. I am also well-versed in solution-focused brief therapy and I utilise trauma-informed techniques in my work with clients.

I believe recovery can be felt most through the therapeutic relationship between person and counsellor. I offer a relationship for depth-oriented work that challenges you and supports you wholeheartedly at the same time. In grief counselling, I offer pace and structure to process difficult or contradicting feelings. To help you find an anchor and navigate uncertainty through the waves of grief. I may offer carefully selected resources and techniques for coping and grounding.

"To live in this world you must be able to do three things to love what is mortal; to hold it against your bones knowing your own life depends on it; and, when the time comes to let it go, to let it go”
