About

Individual counselling and Psychotherapy for adults

Bluemind counselling and psychotherapy service specialises in (but not limited to) bereavement and grief counselling.

Grief is a reaction to loss we didn't want. We know grieving is a complex and highly individual response to loss. Certainly felt by most, and part of an inescapable human experience.

Both a death-related loss (losing your person, or beloved pet) and a non-death related interpersonal loss (losing physical or mental ability, ending a relationship, losing a human right or certainty in your future) can activate the process of mourning in us.

On the one hand, someone who has been losing a family member to Alzheimer's disease, for example, may be faced with cumulative or anticipatory grief that is prolonged or lacks closure. On the other hand, someone, who has lost a friend to a sudden or unexpected death may be in need of early grief interventions.

Sometimes we can't talk to the close people around us about what our pain and loss feel like, sometimes, confiding in a professional can help. Bluemind counselling can play an important role in supporting you on your journey with grief, love and life.

Bluemind counselling and psychotherapy provides a space of empathy and impartialness, with the hope you feel comfortable to bring your whole-self and whatever arises in the process of working together - your inherent wisdom and your struggles; your strengths as well as your challenges; your mind, body, soul and spirit – all of which have many ways of guiding us in how to heal. We will meet each emotion with kindness not judgement, with patience not dismissal.

Offering one-on-one counselling in Glasgow and online.  You can choose to meet weekly or fortnightly, either short-term (6-8 sessions) or longer term (open-ended). We will discuss all your needs in an initial free consultation.

"To live in this world you must be able to do three things to love what is mortal; to hold it against your bones knowing your own life depends on it; and, when the time comes to let it go, to let it go”

- Mary Oliver, excerpt from poem In Blackwater Woods.

Behind Bluemind counselling

I work within the person-centred approach to counselling and psychotherapy. This is a type of talking therapy, in which I help people explore their inner worlds, hear their own hearts, recognise their truth and meaning, which may guide them to achieve what they are seeking.

Central to my work is our therapeutic relationship,

I will not offer platitudes, nor sugar coat your challenges. When appropriate, I may offer carefully selected resources and techniques for coping and comfort; all to support our reflection and your therapy goals.
