Milena Nikolova, person-centred psychotherapist and founder of Bluemind Counselling in Glasgow

About

Hi, I'm Milena — the psychotherapist behind Bluemind Counselling

I trained at the University of Strathclyde and completed a placement with Cruse Bereavement Care, where I became increasingly aware of the long-lasting impact a bereavement can have on someone.

I gained further experience as a Bereavement Support Practitioner with the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, along with extensive training in infant loss, perinatal and postnatal support.

I currently work with Health Assured as an EAP counsellor. I am passionate about supporting people's mental health and their journeys with and beyond grief.

Before becoming a counsellor I worked in the music and events industry — a depth of experience I bring to my role as counsellor. I look forward to hearing from you.

Who I work with

Adults experiencing all types of grief and facing mourning:

  • a loss or death
  • a life-limiting diagnosis or health condition
  • a divorce or the ending of a long-term relationship
  • reproductive and fertility challenges
  • expat and immigration circumstances
  • a change of role or identity — children moving out, caring for an ageing parent
  • estrangement

My approach

I trained in person-centred psychotherapy. I approach counselling with the belief that each of us carries the capacity to overcome challenges and heal. At times, we may need a steady presence and guidance alongside us to help. I help people hear their own hearts, explore their truth and meaning.

I am also well-versed in solution-focused brief therapy, and my work is grounded in evidence-based, trauma-informed practice.

I believe recovery can be felt most through the therapeutic relationship between person and counsellor. I offer a relationship where we can go beneath the surface, gently encouraging meaningful reflection and supporting your therapy goals.
